Meet Us
Miniature Poodles have been in the Poot family blood for generations. It was no surprise when after hearing stories of mom's childhood Miniature Poodles and Stephanie begging and begging for her own dog, FINALLY, for her graduation gift Stephanie got one. From that moment forward she spent every single moment that she could with her dog, "Shadow". A love story between a little girl and her dog "Shadow" is how Umbra Poodles was born. No one could have predicted how dedicated and passionate that little girl and her family would become about this incredible breed. Showing Miniature poodles has never been a business to the Poot family, it's a hobby in which we are ALL eternally in love with.
Stephanie with the dogs....
Stephanie is the trainer, handler, and groomer of the team and the most well known. She is also the one who picks who the parents of the next generation show prospects will be, she looks at pedigrees until she can't keep her eyes open hoping for that "perfect" match. She sets up training, feeding, and exercise schedules of all the dogs. She was known at the dog shows as "the little girl in the purple suit with the black miniature poodle" for the longest time, then picking up nicknames like "Winnie".
Brenda (Mom)....
Brenda is the backbone, she is the receptionist, organizer and works around the clock. She is retired. Mom feeds the clan and keeps them comfortable at all hours of the day. She does an amazing job! (Love you mom!) Mom also keeps everything, feeding and dog wise, organized. She gives all medications and keeps everything and everyone together. She is always making sure Stephanie is packed up properly for shows. Mom also makes sure Dad knows what needs to be fixed and or built and also makes sure that he has the dogs where they need to be!
Jim (Dad)....
Jim is retired and is the "Mr. Fix It", builder and driver of the family! Dad chauffeurs the dogs around when needed and also builds anything needed for the dogs. Along with this he makes sure that the dogs get their share of snacks. He is often spotted making food but feeding more than half to the dogs. As you can figure they know who to go to for their snacks!
